Water Water Everywhere, Nary a Drop to Drink

Introducing Our Las Vegas Water Contest

On 29 June 2014 we raised an issue we have not heard from any other Las Vegas Candidate for Congress or Public Service.

Namely, securing the Las Vegas water supply:

'The race to stop Las Vegas from running dry

Amid a brutal drought the reservoir that supplies 90 per cent of Las Vegas’s water is fast disappearing and desperate attempts to save Sin City are under way':

Our inspiration was our Nevada Silver Senator, William Morris Stewart, who provided legislation for irrigation for crops in the West.

Stewart untangled the Comstock Lode silver claims mess that paid off Lincoln's Treasury Greenbacks. He drafted the 15th Amendment that protected the vote for all Americans. The Silver Senator employed Mark Twain as his personal secretary.

Senator Stewart left the Republican party that demonetized silver, to run as an Independent in the Silver Party.

He served 20 years as chairman of the Committee on Pacific Railroads and the Committee on Indian Affairs. He founded the Stewart Indian School that trained indigent indigenous Americans in masonry and built out the Thunderbird Lodge on Lake Tahoe:

Senator Stewart advocated western interests such as regional economic development, safer mining practices and land irrigation rights:

To put it mildly, Las Vegas, "the meadows," despite various underground springs and streams, is heavily dependent on the Great Depression-Built Hoover Dam Lake Mead Reservoir, now more than 100 feet below full:

We in Las Vegas need a water solution and we need it PDQ.

We therefore call upon all Las Vegans to join our campaign now in support for the best solution to provide water for a Las Vegas of some two million, Las Vegas now billed as the new Silicon Valley.

Better more water than Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome:
