Russia's Foreign Ministry said Moscow is outraged by the US State Department's "unfounded public innuendos." Moscow criticized Washington’s attitude, saying it is pushing the new regime in Ukraine towards a "massacre of the Russian-speaking population.”

The US has launched a campaign to “blacken Russia” in connection with the events in Ukraine, the ministry said.

"During briefings in previous days, she (spokesperson Marie Harf) has produced a load of anti-Russian clichés, which Washington stubbornly tries to impose on international opinion,"
the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

On Thursday, Harf told journalists in Washington that Russia plans to supply “heavier and more powerful rocket launchers” to the self-defense forces fighting against the government troops in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine.

Harf also claimed that she has “intelligence” evidence that the Russian military was firing artillery across the border into Ukraine to target Kiev’s forces.

The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that the State Department failed to provide any proof to back their accusations, “which isn’t surprising as facts and specifics to support those imposturous claims simply don’t exist.”

“Day after day, Washington is reproducing the unsubstantiated fabrications streaming from Kiev; and comes up with ‘fiction’ of its own. The goal of those actions is clear – to conceal the true causes of what is happening in Ukraine; to exculpate its Kiev wards and themselves,” the statement said.

Moscow has reiterated that by supporting the coup-imposed authority in Ukraine, the US has “pushed the new regime towards a brutal massacre of the Russian-speaking population, which demands its legal rights to be respected.”

“The US administration should stop shifting the blame. It would’ve been a lot more honest and responsible to simply remaining silent if it’s so difficult for them to admit the truth,” the ministry said.

The Russian side has also expressed regret that the US State Department's “dedication to anti-Russian propaganda” only leads to more tension between the two states.

“However, it is not the first time that something like this happens,” the statement concluded.

Power shifted in Ukraine in February, when President Viktor Yanukovich was ousted from office.

The government crackdown in the country's southeast started in mid-April, after residents in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions refused to recognize the new authorities in Kiev and demanded federalization.

The Ukrainian military and National Guard resorted to airstrikes and shelling in their struggle against self-defense forces in Donetsk and Lugansk.

On July 10, Ukraine’s deputy health minister spoke of 478 civilians being killed in the conflict, with nearly 1,400 people receiving injuries.

Tensions between Moscow and Washington heated up once again last week, after the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 tragedy.

A passenger plane carrying 298 people crashed in Ukraine on July 17. The West has accused anti-Kiev rebels of shooting down the jet.

The US believes the militias are supported by Russia.

Moscow has denied the accusations, saying it spotted a Kiev military jet next to the Malaysian Boeing just before the tragedy occurred.

The flight recorders from the Malaysian plane were unsealed in a UK lab, with their memory cards copied for analysis.

The inspection revealed no evidence of tampering with the devices, which may be crucial for investigation, the Interstate Aviation Committee reported on Friday.

What do you think it would take for Russia to Start thinking of US as an Ally

Bugsy 25.07.2014 20:14

Putin is 10x the leader Obama could ever be. Its absolutely disgusting what a coward the US president is. Instead of going to eastern europe personally and really trying to aid in the peacful solution to this problem, he spends his week fundraising in Los Angeles, for an election he is not even a part of. If russia can get Ukraine back peacefully, Good for them.

Bugsy 25.07.2014 20:14

This is not about Russia or the US or any one particular country. Its simply about money and power, and truthfully I understand that, its human nature to want more for yourself and your family. I am not a Russian, and I am not in favor of the way in which they govern their citizens.

The First Black U.S. President systematically brought swastika-wearing fascists to power in Ukraine to start a war on Russia’s borders. The passengers of the Malaysian airliner are victims of Obama’s carefully crafted apocalypse, a pre-fabricated conflict that could consume us all.

Washington is embarked on a mad, scorched earth policy to terrorize the planet into submission through relentless escalation into a global state of war. Unable to maintain its dominance through trade and competition, the U.S. goes beyond the brink to plunge the whole planet into a cauldron of death.

The level of unsubstantiated propaganda being directed against Russia regarding downing of MH17 reached unprecedented lows.

There is tangible desperation across Western media .. their political spheres and within their corporate-financier funded policy think-tanks as they attempt to reassert their agenda and narrative not only upon the crisis in Ukraine but upon the world as their weakening grip apparent to all.

Obviously US satellite photos don't support Obama regime’s lies. If they did USA would have released them to great fanfare days ago.

Very true!

Everyone of my wide circle of friends all over the world and their friends, ignorant and initially fearing Russia, have become stern supporters of her now; have got to understand Russia, love Putin and Lavrov and thought the Sochi Games were made in heaven...

But there is great sadness about the arrogance and hegemony and obvious in the face lies of the US gov, because most western people have always trusted the US, were very excited that Obama would bring the greatly needed change to his country.

But alas today we all see this obviously clever man looking anything but happy, relegated to another fascist puppet too!

The war in the Ukraine is not America's war. Why are we so involved? Does America need to take a side in every dispute, even when our interests are not served by taking sides?

If we care so much, why aren't we simply promoting a vote by the people of each region as to what they want to do.

Such good conversation and put across with great clarity. Why does US gov not play the altruistic peacemaker, the world had hoped she'd be and not the now, very hated 'policeman'?

Why the yen for global dominance? Who is threatening the US - nobody!

Please William.........the US started the mess with Victoria Nuland and expansion of NATO close to the borders of Russia. US corporatism and economic takeover of Ukraine to appease EU. The Russians are brave enough not to accept the US rhetoric.

Yes Tim, right you are!

WorkTogether 25.07.2014 19:48

Washington's whole foreign policy is built on innuendo's (hidden lies) all over the world.

Russia of course has always been the country they desired to demonize the most as Russia has not and never will be at their beck and call.

They can't handle it, hence they resort to cheap talk. However, all their actions and talk will boomerang on them because the Truth always returns to boomerang Lies.

If US politicians want to save even a teeny bit of face, they should abandon their foreign policies, stop meddling in the affairs of other countries and start rebuilding the USA. The world like Russia, wants peace!

Le Ruscino 25.07.2014 19:29

I think Russia is coming out of this with a lot of respect by a peace loving majority who realise how very difficult it has been for Russia to take the massive provocation by the US to get into a war based on American lies with a presstitute MSM that have no shame at all.

Bravo to Russia as the truth comes out in the end and bit by bit it's emerging now for all to see!

Obama has truly shamed the US for evermore - please Americans vote in a person who does not want WW3 next time.

Incredibly well said Le Ruscino! Wish I could paint your words in all the sky!

Having spent $5 billion to enslave the Ukraine, the US now finds itself out maneuvered by Russia. Washington now turns its anger toward Russia. US policy has not changed over the years, to demonise your opponent and then to justify engaging in war. Unfortunately the opponent in this case is Russia, hence the need to lash out verbally...Like Syria.

Marie did Barff a lot today, it's a puppet!

Anna Charles 25.07.2014 18:40

Also, you have to despair when the US admin employs people like Marie Harf as Spokeswoman. There is nothing about her voice, countenance or deportment which inspires trust or confidence. Even her expression reveals a personality stretched by deception and delusion.
